Comprehensive Snagging Surveys
A snagging report/inspection is a survey which identifies all defects or unfinished work on new build homes. There is increasing pressure to build homes quickly. Developers and Builders are completing housing developments as quickly as possible. This has led to many new builds suffering with lots of issues and unfinished work which the new owner is left to deal with. A snagging survey inspects all areas of your property, identifying any major or minor defects. This is usually undertaken prior to you moving in allowing you time to deal with the issues with your developer or builder.
Who are we?
We are Southdown Surveyors - a team of RICS accredited Chartered Surveyors who offer our services across East Sussex. Our team are incredibly experienced in building surveys and snagging surveys. We regularly carry out new build inspections to identify potential defects early. These defects range from subsidence (which can be costly) to an easily fixed leaking tap.
We will produce a detailed snagging report. This will be produced and sent to you within 5 days of the inspection taking place. This report will outline a range of technical information regarding the construction of your property. We can pass on the report to your developer or builder if required. Our service doesn't need to end there. Our surveyors are available to run through the report at any time. We can clarify any aspects you may require further information on.
A snagging survey is most effective before you move into the property. This gives you time to negotiate with the developers/builders and resolve any issues prior to your moving date. You can complete a snagging survey within 2 years of your warranty date (check this term with your specific developer). But we would always recommend carrying it out prior to purchase.
