Snagging Surveys for Properties in Battle and Sussex
Snagging surveys are undertaken to determine whether there are any defects (both minor and major) or unfinished building work on a new home.
If you are buying a new build home, especially those off-plan, snagging is an important consideration. The current demands on property developers and builders means increasing pressure is placed upon companies meeting extremely tight and rigid deadlines. This can often result in defects that without a snagging survey would not be identified.
At Southdown Surveyors we are finding that snagging reports are an increasingly popular service with the increase in new home builds. Give our offices a call today to see how we can help you!
Buying a home is one of the biggest investments you will make in your lifetime so it is important your investment is protected - a snagging inspection report offers you additional reassurance and allows issues to be resolved without you having to bear the cost.
Professional Snagging Company
Southdown Surveyors are a team of chartered surveyors and building consultants. Well known in Battle and the area of East Sussex, our RICS accredited practice are highly skilled in snagging reports and surveys.
What is Assessed in a Snagging Survey?
During a snagging inspection our surveyors use the latest equipment and technology to identify any faults or work that is incomplete, including:
- Build quality
- Brickwork
- Loft space
- Standard of finishing in general
- Guttering and roofing
- Plastering, paintwork and tiling
- Levelling of ceilings, walls and floors
- Groundworks
- Doors and windows
When Should I have a Survey Carried Out?
It is recommended that snagging surveys take place before completion on a new build, this simply means any defects identified can be rectified prior to you moving in. If this isn't possible then a snagging inspection can usually be undertaken within 2 years of the warranty date.
After Your Survey - What Happens Next?
A comprehensive photographic snagging report is then produced with a copy being provided to yourself and your builder (if requested), within 5 working days of the inspection. Your report will also contain technical information on the construction of your property. If you would like your dedicated building surveyor to revisit your property once your building developer has assessed and rectified any issues we are always happy to do so (a fixed fee applies).
