Snagging Survey Experts in Brighton
Snagging should be undertaken by qualified professionals. It is a term used by the construction industry that refers to identifying and resolving defects.
Predominantly used for new build properties, particularity those purchasing off-plan, it involves an inspection that identifies any defects or unfinished work.
Unfortunately, with the demand for houses to be built to increasingly tight deadlines, defects and issues are increasingly common on new homes.
Snagging surveys have therefore become an essential factor for homebuyers to protect themselves when making such a large investment.
Snagging Inspections - The Process
At Southdown Surveyors our chartered surveyors hold RICS accredited qualifications and are highly skilled in the process of snagging. We cover the areas of Brighton, Hove and East Sussex, with a professional internal and external snagging service that adheres to NHBC guidelines.
What is Assessed in a Snagging Inspection?
During the inspection our surveyors use the latest technology to identify any minor or major faults, after which they produce a comprehensive report which can also be passed to your builder if required.
Our surveyors will evaluate:
- Build quality
- Brickwork
- Loft space
- Plastering, paintwork and tiling
- Levelling of ceilings, walls and floors
- Groundworks
- Standard of finishing in general
- Guttering and roofing
- Doors and windows
Snagging Report
Your photographic snagging report will be issued within 5 working days of the inspection and technical information regarding your properties construction will be included.
When Should my Snagging Survey be Carried Out?
It is our personal recommendation that snagging surveys take place prior to completion but if this is not possible then it can usually take place within 2 years of the warranty date (terms differ so it's worth checking these details). The main benefit of having the inspection prior to moving in is that any faults identified can be rectified without any disruption to you.
